Alghero
The town of Alghero was found in the XIII Century. During the Middle Ages it was ruled by one dynasty after another until the Aragonese took over. The Aragonese left a big imprint in the area with typical Catalan architecture, traditions and even the local language, which is a variety of Catalan.
One of the highlights of Alghero is its architecture, with fortified walls, cobbled narrow streets leading to buzzing Piazzas with cafes, terraces and restaurants.
Alghero is located in the North West of the island, within the Coral Coast, featuring a Regional and a National Park, white cliffs and beaches. In the surrounding areas there are also the remains of ancient Civilizations.
