Once a Greek colony, the inhabitants of Cavtat (Epidaurus) founded Dubrovnik in the 7th Century. Today the traditional seaside town is a delightful resort set in a picturesque bay and harbour and the tree-lined promenade has many pleasant cafes, restaurants, bars and gift shops. Close to the Airport and Dubrovnik (20km), it is served by a local bus service. Cavtat is a pleasant mixture of ancient cultures and modern amenities, and continues to be extremely popular with Irish visitors.
